HAPPY BELATED NEW YEAR 2013

HAPPY BELATED NEW YEAR!! This is the second post of 2013. Which actually should've been the first but I digress.

Every year, I search tirelessly for the hottest NYE parties in the country. Secondly, I search for a tireless party crew. This year however, I did things a little differently. I decided to party solo and I attended a poolside party at the Fontainebleau Hotel featuring Singer/Songwriter/Actor/Rapper Drake.

Those of you that are familiar with the Fontainebleau (especially the VERY popular LIV nightclub) know what a beautiful hotel it is. The pool area is no exception. Fountains, Bars and VIP tables were scattered about, lit seemingly by the bright lights of the performance stage. "OVO" was monogrammed electronically in red on the huge screen behind Drake's head. Once Drake counted us down and into 2013, he immediately went into such hits as "They Know" & "HYFR". An added surprise were appearances by fellow rappers Busta Rhymes and T.I.P.

Around 12:30am as Drake left the stage without a goodbye, things started to wind down. Most patrons left the venue all together while others continued the party at LIV. I opted to continue my party elsewhere. Although I cannot say that I was impressed by Drake's 30 minute performance, I can say that I was entertained by the beauty of the moment. Hundreds of people, many of them visitors from other cities, were dressed to the nines in sparkly and expensive dresses and three piece suits. The energy was joyful and welcoming, if not somewhat contrived, intimidating and mirroring a hollywood film set (as parties in Miami sometimes do). The women were size 2 lifesized dolls with flowing locks and 6 inch Louboutins and the men were credit card carrying, tie wearing champagne afficionados silently hoping that their budgets would outlast the shoes of their dates......Just Kidding.

I had a ball and I hope you all did the same. Here's to a great 2013.

ATTENTION FASHION & ART LOVERS....THIS PRETTY MUCH MEANS ALL OF YOU!!

Lincoln Road Antique & Collectible Market

In case you were wondering, The city of Miami is currently in the midst of tourists season (not that tourists ever need an actual season during which to visit). As such, you can usually find great things to do as special added extras. On top of all of the fabulous shops, restaurants and social spots, Lincoln Road in South Beach is hosting its Antique & Collectible Market. Every Sunday During the beginning of October and the end of May of the following year, you're likely to find something wonderful for even the most discriminatory fashionista or "nisto". I perused the offerings of vendors this past Sunday and I was thoroughly impressed by the selection of vintage furs, dresses, jewelry, art work and of course Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior and Fendi handbags. Get them while they're available. And while you're at it, feel free to stop in at one of the many restaurants for Brunch and a mimosa. Balans is my local favorite for granola pancakes.
